Cherishing God's Holy Spirit

Part 5 of a 5 Piece Series on Prayer Groups

The next step we would like to share with you is to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Read Ezekiel 39:28-29 and Joel 2:28.

PLAN FOR YOUR GROUP

In the next series of meetings of your prayer group, continue to spend time in silence, listening to God and being open to hear the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Gradually increase the silent time as your prayer group gains experience and confidence in the power of silent listening.

After the quiet time, a time of sharing is often helpful to hear what messages and insights the Holy Spirit has given the various prayer group members in the quiet listening time. Frequently these sharings will be very helpful in giving guidance and direction for the prayer group, and will help to build a feeling of love and closeness between the members.

TEACHINGS ON THE HOLY SPIRIT

Below are several Bible references to the Holy Spirit for your use. Perhaps members could each take one verse, study it, and after listening prayer share what it means to them. Then other members at future meetings could exchange the passages and share their insights, thoughts and feelings.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own?                                    I Corinthians 6:19

When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31

For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say. Luke 12:12

The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have to say to you. John 14:26

Luke 4:1 Zechariah 4:6
Acts 2:4 Acts 19:2-6
Romans 5:5 I Corinthians 2:13
Romans 14:17 I Corinthians 12:3
Romans 15:13 II Corinthians 13:13

We keep you in our prayers for continuing growth and success in your prayer group and offer any further help if you have questions.
